


The City of Palmdale's story and road to success is truly remarkable. In its nearly 40 years of existence, Palmdale has grown from a small rural town to a thriving community with over 122,000 residents, encompassing 102 square miles.
Palmdale is a city of contrast. Rapidly growing, it still enjoys a pace of life that reflects its small town rural roots. Home to some of the world's most advanced technology, it still treasures the simple pleasures of community festivals and fairs.
During this time our residents have seen progressive growth and development, such as the one million square-foot Antelope Valley Mall and the Antelope Valley Auto Center, home to seven auto dealers. Palmdale's quality of life has been enhanced with the addition of three master-planned communities and numerous gated communities, many of which are nestled in the scenic foothills and offer breathtaking views.
Culture, education and entertainment have all been enhanced with the Palmdale playhouse a unique youth library for our children and a beautiful new 18-hole public golf course. In addition, there are many new parks and recreation facilities and programs including the award-winning Palmdale Fall Festival and the new Thursday Night on the Square event.
Many industries have found Palmdale to be an excellent place to do business, taking advantage of our highly skilled workforce and attractive land values. Government incentives have contributed to their success. Our state enterprise zone and federal foreign-trade zone designations have spurred growth within the local economy.
